Not only are you much weaker than a gorilla, nature’s great apes aren’t even the strongest animals on the planet. The strongest creatures on earth range from some of the smallest in the world to the absolute biggest.
Dung Beetle
Although it spends most of its time rolling a ball of poo around, the dung beetle is actually a monster when it comes to brute force. These tiny beetles can move an incredible 1,141 times their own body weight! That’s equivalent to a human picking up and moving your average 1,100 square foot house! With that kind of strength, you would never need to hire movers!
Rhinoceros Beetle
The rhinoceros beetle steals its name from the more popularly known pachyderm. That big horn may be good for fighting off other beetles, but it’s also great for lifting. The rhinoceros beetle is so strong, it can lift 100 times its own body weight! With that kind of strength, even a human could drag two large SUVs right into the air. That might come in handy in the next time you’re stuck in traffic!
Leafcutter Ant
The leafcutter ant may prefer to carry leaves, but that doesn’t mean this ant can’t hold its own. Their soldiers only reach 20 millimeters long, but they can lift 50 times their own body weight! Most ants can lift multiple times their own weight, but the leafcutter ant has a strength that makes it the top of the ant food chain. If you could do that, you’d be able to lift trucks — just for the fun of it!
African Elephant
Elephants are strong. Everyone knows that! But African elephants in particular can carry over 19,000 pounds. That may be somewhat less than twice their body weight, but we can excuse that fact. The amount of weight they can carry makes them the strongest mammals in the world. It’s no wonder most predators leave them alone!
Gorilla
It doesn’t matter too much which type of gorilla you’re looking at. Across the board, these apes can lift 10 times their own body weight! Remember that well for whenever the apocalypse comes and apes start ruling the world! Thankfully, most gorillas are actually pretty peaceful creatures. Just don’t make them angry. You won’t like them when they’re angry!
